Giddy Up! Costa Rica Autism/Aspergers Family Retreat
Sponsored by: Leaves and Lizards Arenal Volcano Cabin Retreat , La Fortuna, Costa Rica
Supported by MAAP Services for Autism and Asperger Syndrome, Susan J. Moreno, President
Vinculo con Caballo Therapeutic Riding Program at Leaves and Lizards has organized three 6 night retreats for families of children with
Autism or Asperger Syndrome in 2012. ‘Vinculo' is a Spanish word for an unexplainable bond between two souls and
‘caballo' is the Spanish word for horse. The focus of this retreat is: HORSES!
Giddy up! Our goal is to facilitate a ‘vinculo' between participants and his/her
horse. To enhance this experience participants and families will be encouraged to help with farm chores, hike in the
rainforest and participate in the other supportive workshops offered during the retreat. An optional one-on-one assistant
we call ‘Mi Amigo'* (my friend) will be available for your child as a supportive resource for those families
who wish to explore the La Fortuna area. Ziplines, canyoning, white water rafting, hot springs, rain forests,
and volcano's, are just a few of the adventures in the area (not included in the rate below). Transportation is not included
to off-site activities. We can provide transportation services or help set up a rental car at an extra cost.
The Giddy Up! Retreat includes:

*‘Mi
Amigo'
We can provide a bilingual, one-on-one assistant - ‘Mi Amigo'. All
participants will be required to have an adult family member or their ‘Mi Amigo' with them at all times. The cost
for ‘Mi Amigo' is $85/extra per day $60/half day. Children will have the same 'Mi Amigo' throughout the retreat.
During orientation, parents will brief their ‘Mi Amigo' to the special needs of their child. Our Autism professional
